LGBTQ+ therapy online

I specialise in lgbtq+ therapy and working with people who have always felt ‘different’ in some way. I set up my practice to use my lived experience and training to provide high-quality, trauma-informed therapy to my community.  Over the years I’ve had the privilege of working with many people to help them with anxiety, confidence and relationships

Why work with an LGBTQ+ specialist

If you are coming to therapy to explore something directly related to being LGBTQ+ (coming out, exploring your gender, internalised prejudice etc), then working with someone who has specialist knowledge and experience means that you can feel confident that your therapist will understand and accept you and your needs.  You might also be coming to therapy for help with something un-related to being lesbian, gay, bi or trans+ but would still like a therapist you don’t need to educate and who doesn’t believe ‘everything is fine for gay people now’, or assumes your sexuality/gender identity is the cause of all your problems!

My experience and training in working with LGBTQ+ clients

I have over 5 years’ experience as a therapist, working predominantly with LGBTQ+/queer clients and with an LGBTQ+ charity. Following my post-graduate training in Counselling and Psychotherapy (from Leeds Beckett University) I have done additional CPD and training in working with queer, trans+ and gender expansive clients from BACP, Pink Therapy and Yorkshire MESMAC.  I’ve also studied queer and feminist literature and enjoy reading lgbtq+ writers.  My own participation in activist/queer/feminist communities means I know first-hand the joys and challenges these spaces can bring.

I’m a BACP accredited therapist (which means I’ve met the organisation’s higher accreditation standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner).

I’m based in Shipley, West Yorkshire and work with clients online from all over the UK. Read my blog on some of the advantages having therapy online can offer queer people.

I am committed to examining my own areas of privilege and am educating myself as I attempt to make my practice as anti-oppressive and intersectional as possible – including undertaking training on the impact of racism, neurodiversity, class and disability.
