Where to get urgent mental health help 

In case of an emergency

Call 999 or go to A&E now if:

-someone’s life is at risk – for example, they have seriously injured themselves or taken an overdose

-you do not feel you can keep yourself or someone else safe

Find a local NHS urgent mental health helpline for people of all ages. 24-hour advice and support – for you, your child, your parent or someone you care for, help to speak to a mental health professional/ an assessment to help decide on the best course of care

You can also get advice from 111 or ask for an urgent GP appointment if you are not able to speak to your local NHS urgent mental health helpline, you need help urgently for your mental health but it’s not an emergency or if you’re not sure what to do.  Use the NHS 111 online service, or call 111.

National Suicide Prevention Helpline UK Offers a supportive listening service to anyone with thoughts of suicide. Call 0800 689 5652 (open 24/7).

Switchboard If you identify as LGBT+, you can call on 0300 330 0630 (10am–10pm every day), email chris@switchboard.lgbt or use their webchat service. Phone operators all identify as LGBT+.

Freephone National Domestic Abuse Helpline, run by Refuge call 0808 2000 247 Open 24-hour

Rape Crisis  – National Telephone Helpline 0808 802 9999. Open between 12:00-14:30 and  19:00-21:30 every day of the year.  Live Chat Helpline . Find a local Rape Crisis Centre

National Male Survivors Helpline – Safeline provide the #5MillionMen National Male Survivors Helpline: 0808 800 5005.  They also provide emotional support via telephone, SMS (text) and email.

Beat – Eating Disorders.  Helpline 0808 801 0677  open 365 days a year from 9am–8pm during the week, and 4pm–8pm on weekends and bank holidays.

Signposting

Mind Info line: provides an information and signposting service for help with mental health problems, where to get help near you, treatment options and advocacy services.  Open 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday (except for bank holidays).
